special shutters are used for row crop side dressing or band application of fertilizer and are best suited for rows or bands spaced in multiples of 6 inches within the full width of the spreader hopper. For other row or band spacings not in multiples of 6 inches, minor spacing differences should be considered where satisfactory results will not be affected.
2. Special shutters are provided with semi-punched metering ports, spaced six inches apart for row crop side dressing or band application of fertiliz-er.
These ports are normally closed in manufacture until one or more of said ports are selected for use as described in following refer-ences. In which case, retaining portions of slugs forming selected shutter openings are cut through with a sharp chisel.
