A
sharp
increase
in
railroad
freight business, which has been re-
flected in increased
employment,
has been
shown in
the last few
weeks on the Northern Pacific and
Milwaukee railroads, officials dis-
closed today.
The Northern Pacific, in the last
two to three months has added a
total of 779 employees in train and
engine service and 544 in the mer-
chanical department for a total in-
crease of 1,323 employees.
Carloadings in the first half of
September were 15 per cent above
the same period in 1934 and 27 per
cent above the first half of August
this year.
