Youthful Elephant
Nurses Tusk Ache
Chicago Tribune Dispatch
Chicago, April 1.-- Tembo, youth-
'ul 3,500 pounds of African elephant
at the
Brookfield open
air
200,
ursed
a
painful
ache
today,
but with some hope of an eventual
cure.
His last treatment, complet-
ed yesterday
by Dr.
A.
Dahl-
berg, of the University of Chicago,
pioneer in
elephant
dentistry,
gave every hope of recovery.
Both Tembo's tusks were cracked
luring his shipment from Tangan-
vika.
In an
older
elephant,
the
tusks are solid ivory, but at Tem-
bo's age they have not hardened.
Infection
set
in
and both tusks
