This is an absolute one-of-a-kind collection of photos, letters, clippings, programs and original art by Helen Bierling, a concert soprano who lived in Passaic NJ and Monsey NY and performed at many churches and other venues in the area.
These are items she collected over the course of her entire life. The earliest document I noted was from 1912 and the latest from 1977 which I believe was to her daughter regarding her estate.
A large amount of these documents are from the 20s and 30s, when it seemed she was most active in her career.
There are probably thousands of documents. Many are personal letters including some from relatives I believe during both world wars. There are awards and certificates and other things like that. There is a huge amount of programs from churches and other venues she performed at, as well as some plays that she acted in.
There are even multiple pieces of her original artwork including several self portraits.
There are many photos that seem to span most of her life including many black and whites of younger years, and some that I believe were taken close to the end of her life.
There is also a variety of greeting cards and post cards she saved.
She attended Passaic high school around 1915, and there are documents relating to that, as well as a large diploma.
In total everything weighs nearly 5 pounds. Awesome opportunity for genealogy or general interest in the Passaic/Monsey area in the 20th century.
