The top-ranked Huskers appear to be loaded for a run at their fourth national title in the past six seasons, returning 20 players with starting experience from last season's Big 12 and Fiesta Bowl champions.
Offensively, the Big Red is led by quarterback Eric Crouch, who will contend for conference and national honors this season. The junior from Omaha was the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Year last season, rushing for 889 yards and 16 touchdowns and throwing for 1,269 yards and seven more scores. Crouch is one of 10 players with starting experience returning from an offense that ranked among the national leaders in both rushing and scoring offense in 1999.
