"Lilies of the Field," a landmark film of the 1960s, has inspired a sequel in "Christmas Lilies of the Field,? an NBC-TV movie directed by Ralph Nelson, the same filmmaker who produced the original.
The two-hour special can be seen locally at 7
tonight on Channel 5.
The 1963 film became a classic of a sort, winning five Academy Award nominations - best picture, best actor, best supporting actress, best screenplay, best cinematography.
Sidney Poitier won the Oscar for his performance as Homer Smith, an itinerant carpenter who builds a church for five immigrant German nuns in the middle of an Arizona desert.
