Sen. Hugh Scott reported Wednesday that he was assured by the U.S. Army there will be "no change in the status" of Indiantown Gap Military Reservation.
The statement put to rest rumors that the Federal Government was about to return the Gap to state control.
Although the property is owned by Pennsylvania, it is
leased to the
Federal
Government for 99 years at $1 a year.
Had it been returned to state control, the matter of appropriations for support of the reservation in the future would have been uncertain.
