1963 The Circus Comes To Town by Circus World Museum Baraboo WI TG6

In America the Circus has been with us, in some form, since the inception of our great country. 200 years from now it will still be with us, in what form no one knows.
We know this will be true because the Circus is the greatest amusement ever devised. It appeals to people of all ages and in all walks of life.
The Circus is an ever changing spectacle. Back in the 1890's the Ringlings presented great concert bands of 50 and 60 pieces. For many years before and after the turn of the century, the Circus brought to the cities and towns great stage productions. These huge spectacles included up to 1,200 people, many horses, camels, elephants and other animals. Produced with magnificent wardrobe, these plays might be based on Nero or Columbus or Cinderella.
The Circus was bringing culture to the hinterland.
