Put insulation bats between studs. Even in partition walls, insulation is desirable as a "sound softener." Inspect studs to make sure they are straight; if not, furring should be used. (See furring instructions below.) Ceiling should be installed before starting walls. Use 4-penny finishing nails and start installing panels in a corner of the room. Panels must meet over studs. When nailing panels along the edges, nails should be spaced 8 inches; on intermediate studs, 18 inches. If you are using grooved panels, nails can be placed in the grooves since they are on 16-inch centers. Countersink the nails ⅒ inch and fill with Putty Stik as recommended on front page.
