The Stonewall Jackson Memorial, Inc., a non-profit corporation, chartered in 1953 to commemorate the life and career of Jackson, owns and maintains the Jackson Home in Lexington, Virginia, the only home the General ever owned. The house contains the largest collection of Jacksoniana so far brought together in one place. It is open daily without charge.
The Memorial also owns the handsome residence in Winchester, Virginia which was Jackson's Headquarters during the winter of 1861-1862. This headquarters contains a fine display of military relics of Jackson and his lieutenants. It is open daily.
The Memorial has also acquired and developed 258 strategic acres in the in the battlegrounds at McDowell, Cross Keys and Port Republic. Museums on these battlefields contain fine collections of relics, memorabilia, etc., and are open April through October without charge.
