OUTSTANDING sports event of the
Season was an exhibition golf match on the beautiful links of the Bahamas Country Club in mid-March.
Contestants were famed professionals
Ben Hogan and Sammy Snead who de. feated the Bahamas amateur team of Tommy Goodwin and Francis Francis.
More than a thousand spectators saw
Hogan score a brilliant 64, which is one stroke above the Country Club record set by Goodwin five years ago. The Hogan-Snead
twosome carded
131
against the Goodwin-Francis 139.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Ranfurly Home for Children
Fund.
Best shot of the day was Snead's
"roundhouse putt on the 10th green.
