Loss of the Pre-dreadnought "Bulwark" EARLY in the morning of Nov 26th the British pre-dreadnought "Bulwark" was blown up in Sheerness Harbor in the Thames at a point about thirty-five miles from London.
Practically the whole of the ship's
complement of 750 men was lost, the ship going down within three minutes after the explosion and only fourteen of the crew being saved.
Of the three possible causes of her loss a mine, submarine attack, or an internal explosion the last named has been generally accepted as the most probable. No mine-laying by the enemy would be possible at a point No far up the estuary which leads to Great Britain's most Important eity. In vlew of the fact that the Thames is heavily mined, It would be impossible for a submarine of the ordinary type to have made its way so far up the river;
